Getting your site ranked well in Google is the aim of many entrepreneurs & business owners, but not many people have an idea about how to do it. Fortunately, there are 3 simple tricks to boost your site’s rank in just a few days. Here’s how to do them..

1) Create Lots Of Relevant Pages – The best thing you can do for your website is to focus on a series of different keywords with many relevant pages. Most webmasters make the fatal mistake of making a small 10 page site that they hope will rank for 100′s of search terms. This will never work – Google and the other search engines are based on how relevant pages are, and will rank individual (targeted) pages of your site far higher than the main page. If you have a site with many different products / topics… then make sure you dedicate at least one page to each. Don’t try and cram everything onto one page.

2) Create Lots Of Links To Your Site Over A Steady Period Of Time – Links to your site shows the search engines that you are an active participant in the Internet ‘community’ AND that other sites want to link to you. However, getting too many links at once can have a devastating effect on your ranks (because Google thinks you’re trying to ‘game’ its system). In order to get the best results, you should create a steady flow of around 5-10 links every day to your site from the likes of directories, blog comments and forum signatures.

3) Focus On Top Quality Links - Getting low quality (free) links from websites is easy enough, and is so easy that the search engines are not counting them as highly any more. Now the search engines are focusing more on the quality of links – and value the best one-way, authority links as the most valuable, making them boost your site in the rankings. Getting these links is a lot more difficult and in order to get them, you could think about investing in some quality links from the likes of blog posts or link pages. The more high quality links you get, the faster you’ll get the top ranks in the search engines.

As fancy as the term “blog” sounds, it’s actually just a website that uses a content management system. While most blog software is more search engine friendly out of the box than many web sites, the opportunities for blog optimization are readily available.

Here are 10 tricks that will increase your visibility in search engines and eventually drive more traffic to your blog.

1) Use keywords in your blog post titles – This is a given for SEO. Most blogging software uses the post title as the url so take advantage of it.

Example: “10 SEO Tricks to Attract More Traffic to your Blog – Search Engine Journal
Search Engine Journal is included on every blog post title tag automatically.

2) Optimize your blog categories – When you create categories for your blog, be sure to use keywords in the titles. When you post, be sure to default to a general category that is relevant no matter what the post is about. Choose multiple categories on each post when appropriate. This will create a “SEO-friendly” url for each post you make.

3) Syndicate your blog – Make it easy for people to subscribe to your blog. Sign-up with a free service like Feedburner and then create a “syndication” area on your site.

4) Offer RSS to email – Anywhere from 10% to 40% of your blog traffic can come from individuals that perfer to read blog posts via email. RSS readers and aggregators can be confusing. Adding email services to your blog isn’t. There are several free services available for this including: FeedBlitz, Squeet, and Zookoda.

5) Ping blog search engines – This can be configured with blog software such as Movable Type or WordPress to work automatically. If you’re using Blogger.com, then you can do this manually with Pingomatic.com or Pingoat.com.

6) Make comments on other blogs – Your name will be linked to the blog url that you enter. Don’t make comments that offer no value to the blog post. Don’t use keywords in the field for your name, use your name or blog name.

7) Submit your blog directories – Also submit the blog to regular directories such as (DMOZ, JoeAnt, GoGuides, Google Blog Search, etc) that have categories for blogs.

8) Targeted advertising – Now this doesn’t really drive traffic to your site but will make you money. It’s possible by using Google AdSense to display highly targeted ads on your blog. Once you’ve setup an account and placed the ads on your site, just sit back and watch the cash come in. Cha-ching.

9) Snatch up hot keywords – Now before you place ads on your blog, be sure your keyword density is good for the right terms. A VERY helpful tool to improve your traffic for high-paying keywords is called Keyword Elite (http://www.seojuice.com).

10) Use track backs – If there is a blog that you refer to or quote and it is highly relevant to your subject, leave a track back. It increases your link popularity and may even score a few interested readers from the linked site. A TrackBack is a mechanism used in a blog to show, around an entry, a list of other blogs that refer to it.

Summary

The important thing to remember is that no matter how many optimization tactics you employ with a blog, there is no substitute for quality content. Blog optimization is only as effective as the quality and usefulness of the content you’re optimizing. So do not limit yourself to tips and lists. Use your imagination and you will come up with thousands of ways to drive traffic to your blog!

These SEO techniques go through a three-phase process. They are bookmarking, article writing, then targeting higher PR sites.

The first step you want to do is to set up a blog that you can post new content on. Then afterwards you social bookmark the URLs to the different articles you created. Next you’ll want to take the RSS feed and submit that to different directories and aggregators.

Once you finish these steps, the main part of you website will have anywhere from 10 to 15 links. Depending on the competition you’re dealing with, you should be on page 2 or 1 for the particular keyword you are targeting. When you promote a brand new website you need to think long term and just doing the things in the first phase is not enough to give you a significant ranking over the long haul. It won’t sustain your ranking either.

Now you’re going to want to move to what I call phase 2 of the link building activities that you will be undertaking. In this stage, you’ll be obtaining low to moderate links going back to your website. This is where you’ll be focusing on blog networks and article directory networks. There are tools you can use to speed up the automation process.

In this phase you’re giving yourself the potential of acquiring a few hundred links that will go back to your website.

Some of the automated services allow you to put links in the article itself. For those that do I’ll always put a primary link going back to my main website, but some I’ll link to a network of sites that I created using my Web 2.0 properties.

In the long run you want at least 50% of the links to go back to your main website. You’ll want to keep up a good routine of writing articles to submit to either the blog or article networks.

There are good tools that will monitor your ranking relative to your keywords. At this point you should have a few hundred links going back to your website which will be anywhere between 0 to 2 PR rankings. I’ve never gotten anything higher than that.

Now you’re ready to go on to phase 3. In this step you want to hand pick authority sites where you can work in a link back to your website. Some of these SEO techniques used in phase 3 you might have to pay for, but the link back to your website will be well worth the money spent.

Now that you’ve learned how to use these SEO techniques make sure to take the time to set up quality links when you bookmark. Write articles that draw the reader in and offer something to other authority website with a higher PR ranking to get those back links.
