Fresh Content

This is very important for search engine optimisation. Google and other search engines look very favourably on web properties that post unique, original content. If you post, original, fresh content regularly to your website, you are much more likely to have the search engine spiders visiting your website regularly to crawl for content you’ve posted.

If you believe the source is closely related to the topic of your website, there is nothing wrong with linking to other websites, or quoting other publishers or websites, or linking to authority sources. The content should be either written for you by one of your employees or an author you have contracted, or written by you – whichever way, you must ensure you are legally able to reproduce it.

Fresh, original content will help with getting your website regularly spidered by the search engines. Within your overall SEO strategy, this is a fairly small, but very very important part. If you don’t produce your own original copy, or at least pay for copy you have a legal right to use, then don’t expect to have as much success with your website as you’d like. The days are gone when you can create a website from syndicated content and expect it to rank well for a sustained period of time – if indeed those days ever did exist.

Syndicated content is something that has it’s rightful place as a great source of information. To give your visitors highly relevant, targetted information relevant to their business market niche, you can use news feeds (and other RSS feeds). The original content should be the main ‘meat’, and these sources of information should be used to complement the information you provide.
